Sensible Politics

Welcome to the world of Sensible Politics.

If you’re tired of Democratic and Republican and Libertarian Party posturing, game-playing, spin, and just plain bullsh-t, then you may like it here.

In this place, we talk about real issues, and we discuss them in terms of sensible policies that might actually work to everyone’s benefit. We’re not out to “win” by forcing others to “lose”. We’re out to do what government has long been intended to do in this great country: promote the general welfare of all the people, not just those in power and their friends.

Here’s a taste of what we’re going to be talking about:

Health care. It’s a basic function of society and of government. It’s not a private business to be operated for profit. A sensible plan would be for private health insurance companies to be brought under stricter regulation, like utility companies. They should be limited in the amount of profit they can gouge from their customers and should also be required to deliver specific services that serve the public interest rather than their own private profit motives. At a minimum, health insurance “approvals” of medical procedures should no longer be part of the medical decision-making loop, and the payments that insurance companies make for services rendered by doctors and other health care providers ought to be made promptly and fairly. How many times have you had to wrangle with your health insurance company to get them to pay for something to which your health insurance policy clearly entitles you? Let’s put an end to this kind of fighting. It wouldn’t be a terrible thing to eliminate private health care insurance altogether.

If you like it, post a comment, tell your friends, and come back.

Thanks.
